Se soffrite di cuore o di diabete, via libera ai mandarini. A sostenerlo, è una ricerca dell’Università del Western Ontario, in Canada, pubblicata sulla rivista “Diabetes”. Secondo i ricercatori, infatti, nella buccia del tangerino, una varietà particolare di agrumi, è presente una sostanza utile nella lotta contro il diabete, in grado di prevenire anche il rischio di infarto e di ictus. Inoltre, il mandarino aiuterebbe a tenere lontano anche l’obesità.

Il team di ricercatori, è giunto a questa conclusione dopo aver isolato e identificato una sostanza antiossidante contenuta nel mandarino, la nobitelina, un flavonoide che conferisce al frutto, il tipico colore arancio.

Ad essere particolarmente ricca di questa sostanza antiossidante, sarebbe la buccia dei mandarini, con una concentrazione pari a 10 volte maggiore rispetto ad un’altra sostanza molto simile presente nei pompelmi, la naringenina, già oggetto di studio dello stesso gruppo di esperti e fino ad oggi ritenuta al primo posto nel loro genere.

Il mandarino è un frutto estremamente virtuoso, infatti, permette di controllare anche gli zuccheri nel sangue, ma anche il peso corporeo.

Gli studiosi, hanno condotto un esperimento su topi da laboratorio, che sono stati suddivisi in due gruppi alimentati con una dieta ad alto potere energetico. Il gruppo che ha assunto, oltre ai grassi e agli zuccheri, un notevole supplemento di nobitelina non solo non è ingrassato, ma non ha dimostrato aumenti sensibili di colesterolo, insulina e glucosio nel sangue, a differenza dell’altro gruppo.

La nobitelina, così, si dimostra essere una sostanza preziosa per il benessere del nostro organismo e la ricerca apre la via ad un nuovo trattamento dell’arteriosclerosi, in grado di prevenire l’indurimento delle arterie, gli infarti e il rischio di ictus.

Dunque, il mandarino rivela delle virtù davvero insospettate, che lo rendono di gran lunga superiore al pompelmo, che resta comunque un frutto ricco di fibre, flavonoidi, vitamine A, B, C e pectine, particolarmente indicato anche nelle diete dimagranti.
