Il trattamento prevede la somministrazione, per via cutanea o sottocutanea, di anidride carbonica allo stato gassoso. L’Anidride Carbonica, gas naturalmente presente nel nostro organismo, favorisce la vasodilatazione dei tessuti con un conseguente miglioramento della circolazione. I tessuti, ricevendo maggiore ossigenazione, tenderanno ad espellere le tossine con una conseguente riduzione del gonfiore nella zona trattata.
Il trattamento di carbossiterapia prevede microiniezioni effettuate a frequenza settimanale, per ottenere risultati visibili sono necessarie dalle 10 alle 20 sedute. Ogni seduta ha una durata di circa 15-20 minuti e un costo di circa 100 euro a seduta. Questo trattamento può comportare, in chi soffre di fragilità capillare, la possibile comparsa di piccoli ematomi o ecchimosi che vanno via nel giro di qualche giorno.
Esistono controindicazioni per questo trattamento dipendenti dalla presenza di eventuali patologie quali insufficienza renale, problemi cardiaci, insufficienza epatica, ecc. Quando si decide di sottoporsi ad un trattamento è sempre bene, oltre che affidarsi a personale specializzato, fornire ai medici informazioni il più possibile dettagliate sul proprio attuale stato di salute e su problematiche passate. I risultati sono ancora maggiori se, alla carbossiterapia, si associano altri trattamenti quali il linfodrenaggio o la pressoterapia.
