Alcune patologie, per esempio l’osteoporosi, risulta colpire il 9,2% delle donne e l’1,1% degli uomini. Per non parlare dei disturbi del comportamento alimentare (Bulimia, Anoressia, BED, ecc.) dove la prevalenza del sesso femminile è nettamente superiore rispetto al sesso maschile.
Se guardiamo ad altre patologie ci accorgiamo che il sesso femminile ha un triste primato. Basti pensare alle ultime ricerche nel campo delle malattie cardio-vascolari, dove è risultato un rapporto stretto tra menopausa e rischi di infarto o all’aumento dei casi di endometriosi, patologia tutta al femminile che ogni anno colpisce un numero molto alto di donne. Questa consapevolezza ha condotto non solo ad un aumento di farmaci pensati per le donne (maggiori farmaci dedicati alla cura di malattie ginecologiche, alle patologie tumorali, malattie muscolo-scheletriche, ecc.) ma anche ad una differenziazione della dieta che tenga conto delle esigenze legate alle varie fasi di vita di una donna.
