Fare la spesa è molto più complicato di quanto non si creda, soprattutto se non si ha tempo di andare tutti i giorni nel negozietto ad acquistare prodotti freschi e se per lavoro si è spesso fuori casa. È molto importante quindi fare una lista, con tutte le cose che mancano e immaginare come poter organizzare i pasti della settimana. Perché mai? Per rendere più equilibrata possibile la nostra dieta, evitare di ingrassare e non spendere soldi inutili. In questo contesto, c’è un grave errore da evitare: non andare al supermercato dopo una notte insonne.

Un nuovo studio, condotto da Brina Wansink e Aner Tal della Cornell University, ha dimostrato che non si riposa correttamente si rischia di acquistare prodotti calorici e cibi con un peso e un volume maggiore. Come mai? La carenza di sonno toglie lucidità e ovviamente limita il buonsenso in tema di acquisti sani, soprattutto se l’oggetto in questione sono i cibi.

È importante anche non fare la spesa quando si ha fame, perché anche in questo caso il carrello sarà riempito in base al languorino e alle voglie. Non è tutto, perché su questo argomento ci sono stati diverse ricerche. Alcune sono giunte a conclusione che chi dorme poco tende a ingrassare e a mangiare cibi più ricchi di zucchero e pieni di calorie (vuote) a causa dei disordini metabolici e ormonali.

Brina Wansink e Aner Tal hanno arruolato un gruppo di volontari, per dimostrare la loro tesi, mettendo a disposizione 50 euro per fare la spesa: nella prima fase dovevano andare al supermercato dopo non aver dormito e nella seconda dopo una regolare notte. I volontari prima di andare al centro commerciale dovevano fare colazione, per non essere influenzati dalla fame. Il risultato? Dopo il primo test i carrelli sono risultati più calorici del 9 percento del volume complessivo e più pesanti del 80 percento.
