I falsi miti dell’alimentazione

Avete presente i miti alimentari frutto della saggezza popolare come:  “una mela al giorno toglie il medico di torno”? Bene, a parte questo sulle mele, gli altri, almeno secondo il Daily Mail, sono destinati a crollare uno dietro l’altro. Il quotidiano inglese ha demolito, in un articolo, tutti i miti dell’alimentazione, dimostrando scientificamente come in realtà siano ben lontani dall’essere le panacee di tutti i mali.

I primi ad essere messi sulla gogna sono i mirtilli, da sempre considerati il “cibo perfetto” perché ricchi di antiossidanti; in realtà, di antiossidanti ne contengono solo un tipo, tra l’altro presente sia nell’uva che nel cioccolato fondente. Ancora una buona notizia per i golosi, in quanto pare proprio che le barrette dietetiche, invece che dimagrire, facciano ingrassare in quanto ricche di zuccheri, carboidrati e dolcificanti sintetici.

Buone notizie anche per chi ama le uova, da anni accusate di far alzare il colesterolo: che lo contengano è indubbio, ma è anche vero che il corpo è in grado di regolarsi, e che l’uovo è un alimento altamente nutritivo; “scagionata” anche la margarina, da sempre accusata di far male al cuore; ciò era vero in passato, ma ora che è fatta con grassi monoinsaturi è più sana del burro.

Attenzione a come conservate la verdura: in  frigorifero si mantiene di più, ma perde gran parte dei suoi nutrienti, meglio acquistarne di meno e lasciarla a temperatura ambiente; lo stesso discorso vale anche per la frutta.

Uno dei miti più radicati a proposito di diete e alimentazione è il fatto che bisogna bere almeno due litri d’acqua al giorno; secondo i ricercatori dell’università della Pennsylvania non ci sono prove che bere tanta acqua faccia bene alla pelle oppure che faccia perdere peso; in realtà la quantità adeguata è soggettiva: se l’urina è di colore giallo paglierino vuol dire che si sta bevendo a sufficienza.
