La cellulite è l’eterna nemica delle donne… questo inestetismo della pelle, che è in realtà una vera e propria patologia (panniculopatia edemo-fibro-sclerotica), colpisce prevalentemente il sesso femminile e si manifesta con edemi (gonfiori) e fossette localizzati su cosce e glutei. Vediamo insieme quali sono le cause di questo disturbi e cerchiamo di sfatare alcuni miti.

Cause della cellulite

La cellulite è un’alterazione del tessuto adiposo sottocutaneo. In condizioni di normalità, infatti, le cellule adipose presenti naturalmente nel tessuto sottocutaneo funzionano da riserva di energia per l’organismo, ma in caso di stasi del circolo venoso, questa riserva si accumula comprimendo i capillari sanguigni, che cominciano a trasudare il plasma. Il plasma s’infiltra nelle cellule provocando un’infiammazione del tessuto adiposo innescando così un vero e proprio circolo vizioso.

La formazione della cellulite è strettamente legata agli ormoni sessuali femminili, che favoriscono la ritenzione di liquidi nei tessuti, ma esistono anche altre cause come la familiarità, l’abitudine ad indossare indumenti stretti e di calzare scarpe con tacchi molto alti, l’abuso di alcool, il fumo, la sedentarietà, il sovrappeso e finanche la postura scorretta (gambe accavallate, troppe ore sedute o in piedi, ecc.).

Falsi miti sulla cellulite

La cellulite non colpisce le donne magre? FALSO. È convinzione diffusa che la cellulite sia semplicemente grasso e invece questo disturbo può comparire anche nelle cosiddette “magre”, perché non è causata dall’accumulo di grasso nelle cellule adipose, ma come abbiamo visto dal ristagno di liquidi nel pannicolo, dovuto a turbe della circolazione venosa e linfatica.

I massaggi linfodrenanti eliminano la cellulite? FALSO. I massaggi migliorano la circolazione linfatica e venosa e di conseguenza possono aiutare ad attenuare gli edemi, ma non debellano il problema, magari fosse così!

La gravidanza favorisce la cellulite? VERO. Durante la gravidanza le modificazioni ormonali e il peso del feto che grava sui vasi sanguigni del bacino e della radice degli arti inferiori possono effettivamente contribuire alla comparsa o all’aggravarsi della pannicolite.

Usare meno sale riduce la cellulite? VERO. Il sale non è in assoluto da demonizzare, soprattutto se si tratta di varietà di sale pregiate come il sale rosa dell’Himalaya, che è il più puro in assoluto poiché non è soggetto a raffinazione ed è esente da contaminazioni ambientali, mantenendo inalterata la sua naturale ricchezza di Sali minerali e oligoelementi. In eccesso, però, qualunque tipo di sale voi scegliate, è dannoso, prima di tutto per la salute cardiovascolare e poi perché favorisce la ritenzione idrica e di conseguenza i ristagni di liquidi. Un consumo equilibrato è la scelta migliore (massimo 5 g al giorno secondo le linee guida dell’OMS). In alternativa, per insaporire i piatti potete usare le spezie, le erbe aromatiche e il gomasio, un particolare condimento ottenuto dai semi di sesamo tritati insieme al sale marino (in un rapporto di 6 parti a 1 o massimo 20 parti a 1), dopo che entrambi sono stati tostati.

L’attività fisica elimina la cellulite? VERO/FALSO. Fare sport fa bene alla salute e può essere un vero toccasana contro la cellulite, a patto però di scegliere un’attività a bassa intensità.

Contro la cellulite non esistono rimedi? VERO/FALSO: una volta che la cellulite ha fatto la sua comparsa è veramente difficile liberarsene, anche con la liposuzione non si risolve definitivamente il problema perché questo intervento di chirurgia estetica agisce solo sull’effetto e non sulla causa. La cellulite purtroppo si rigenera continuamente. Esistono però dei rimedi, anche naturali, che possono attenuare gli inestetismi cutanei come i fanghi e gli oli essenziali, che sono ancora più pratici da utilizzare. Ad esempio, potete preparare una miscela con 50 ml di olio di mandorle dolci e 15 gocce di olio essenziale di cipresso, che vanta proprietà drenanti e stimola la circolazione periferica. Usatela dopo il bagno, sulla pelle ancora umida.
