In estate fare trekking è più semplice: si sta di più all’aria aperta e la voglia di muoversi è maggiore; ma avete mai pensato di fare trekking sull’acqua? Impossibile? No, è il principio del Water trekking, una nuova disciplina lanciata durante l’ultima edizione del Riminiwellness e al Festival del Fitness di Roma.

Il Water trekking è un tipo di fitness acquatico che unisce i benefici dell’acqua a quelli di una camminata in montagna e si svolge grazie a degli speciali tapis roulant che funzionano solo con la camminata e non sono automatici; inoltre, a differenza dei classici tappeti, questi utilizzanti in acqua sono inclinati in modo da simulare la pendenza dei sentieri di montagna.

Gli esercizi vengono effettuati con l’acqua della piscina che arriva fino al petto, in quanto il peso corporeo è ridotto del 50% e non grava né sulla colonna vertebrale né sulle articolazioni, riducendo al minimo il rischio di traumi. Il Water trekking si effettua con diverse andature, proprio come avviene nel trekking tradizionale, e anche il ritmo cambia nel corso della lezione.

Il tappeto, che è ancorato sul fondo della piscina, possiede una superficie rugosa, ideale per un benefico massaggio plantare: non a caso non vengono usate le scarpette antiscivolo dell’hydro bike, ma si effettuano gli esercizi a piedi nudi.

La camminata in salita è utile per bruciare le calorie e, quindi, per smaltire i chili in eccesso, specie se viene effettuata in piscina, dove aumenta l’impegno perché è necessario vincere la resistenza dell’acqua. In questa disciplina sono impegnati tutti i muscoli dalla vita in giù: gli addominali, i glutei e i muscoli delle gambe, con il vantaggio che essendo immersi nell’acqua si tonificano ma non si ingrossano; inoltre, vengono combinati alle diverse andature anche esercizi mirati per la parte alta del corpo, utili, quindi, per tonificare braccia, spalle e pettorali.
