Nuove allergie cibi esotici soia sesamo rischio

Le allergie alimentari sono sempre più comuni e in continuo aumento, complice il consumo di cibi un tempo meno diffusi come la soia o i semi di sesamo. In Italia, infatti, si contano 2 milioni di allergici, senza contare i bambini intolleranti a latte, uova, nocciole e altri alimenti, che nel corso di 10 anni sono addirittura raddoppiati sfiorando quota 600mila. Ecco, perché nei giorni scorsi a Milano durante il World Allergy and Asthma Congress 2013 sono state presentate le linee guida dell’EAACI (European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology) per la prevenzione delle allergie alimentari.

Come spiega Maria Antonella Murraro, segretario generale EAACI e responsabile del Centro di riferimento regionale per lo studio e la cura delle allergie e delle intolleranze alimentari del Dipartimento di Pediatria dell’Università di Padova:

L’allattamento al seno esclusivo nei primi 4-6 mesi di vita del bambino le riduce; invece le restrizioni alla dieta della mamma in attesa non servono. Se l’allattamento al seno non è possibile e il bambino è ad alto rischio, ad esempio perché genitori o fratelli sono allergici, è utile usare latte vaccino idrolizzato, ipo-allergenico. Dopo il quarto mese compiuto si possono inserire i primi cibi, mentre ritardare o anticipare l’esposizione ad alimenti a rischio come uova o latticini, una volta iniziato lo svezzamento, non ha effetto sulla prevenzione delle allergie.

Uno studio molto interessante presentato durante il congresso ipotizza addirittura che le allergie possano dipendere dalle condizioni di vita della mamma. Secondo gli esperti, infatti, queste potrebbero influire sui processi biochimici in grado di modulare il sistema immunitario del bambino provocando una reazione abnorme a sostanze innocue come latte o uova. Nelle linee guida dell’EAACI si affronta anche il problema dello shock anafilattico e delle etichette dei cibi, ancora oggi poco chiare. La dicitura “può contenere2, infatti, è troppo generica e non indica i livelli reali di contaminazione di un dato alimento. È chiaro che un allergico non si azzarderà mai a comprare un prodotto con un’etichettatura che lascia un margine di incertezza sul contenuto in allergeni. Ecco, perché si chiede all’Europa di fornire indicazioni più precise.

I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She put the shell to her ear and screamed.
