Una dieta con poco sale non aiuta ad abbassare la pressione

Il recente studio condotto da Lynn L. Moore, della Boston University School of Medicine, presentato all’ Experimental Biology 2017 meeting, sembra essere destinato a far discutere molto. Partiamo dal risultato: secondo i ricercatori una dieta a basso contenuto di sodio, e quindi di sale, nel lungo periodo non aiuta a tenere bassi i livelli della pressione.

Lo studio mette sotto la lente di ingrandimento le linee guida sulla dieta americane, che raccomandano di limitare il sodio a 2,3 grammi al giorno e in particolare, dopo l’osservazione di 2632 persone tra 30 e 64 anni nell’arco di 16 anni ha fatto emergere che non è tanto il consumo del sale a influenzare l’innalzamento della pressione, quanto la presenza nella dieta di altri minerali come il potassio, il magnesio e il calcio.

Dall’analisi del Framingham Offspring Study è infatti emerso che alti livelli di potassio, calcio e magnesio portavano una pressione più bassa nel tempo e che le persone con più alti livelli di sodio (3717 milligrammi al giorno in media) e di potassio (3211 milligrammi al giorno) avevano la pressione sanguigna più bassa.

Attenzione: non si tratta di affermare che grandi quantità di sodio nella dieta non siano nocive o non abbiano influenza nei valori della pressione arteriosa ma Lynn L. Moore spiega che i risultati di questa ricerca dovrebbero aiutare a rifocalizzare l’attenzione sull’importanza di una dieta equilibrata in cui siano presenti anche alimenti ricchi di potassio, calcio e magnesio.

Secondo la studiosa potrebbero anche esserci delle persone particolarmente sensibili al sale, la cui assunzione potrebbe causare disturbi pressori, ma lo studio rivela una cosa che prima ignoravamo: anche assumere potassio, calcio e magnesio aiuta a controllare la pressione.
