Anche se la dieta vegana e la dieta vegetariana sono entrate di diritto tra i regimi alimentari alternativi, il dibattito sulla possibilità di far seguire questo tipo di alimentazione ai bambini è ancora aperto. Il più recente fatto di cronaca però ci racconta un epilogo diverso dal solito: i genitori che avevano fatto seguire al figlioletto di 15 mesi una dieta vegana sono stati infatti assolti per non essere stati loro la causa della lentezza dell’accrescimento del bambino.
Lavvocato Prisco, legale dei genitori, è intervenuto ai microfoni di Radio Cusano e ha spiegato i fatti. Un bambino di 15 mesi ha avuto un ritardo nell’accrescimento e un calo ponderale. I genitori, preoccupati, lo hanno portato in ospedale dove i sanitari hanno scoperto che il piccolo seguiva un’alimentazione vegana e hanno deciso di segnalare il caso alla procura dei minori cominciando subito ad alimentarlo in modo onnivoro.

Si è quindi aperto un procedimento giudiziario nei confronti dei genitori per accertare le eventuali responsabilità ma il Tribunale, dopo un anno, ha constatato che nonostante il bambino avesse ricominciato la sua alimentazione vegana era cresciuto normalmente e non avevaa avuto nessun problema di salute. Le accuse quindi sono cadute e i genitori sono stati assolti.
PRO E CONTRO DELLA DIETA VEGANA
I problemi precedenti del bambino secondo il tribunale erano legati alla contrazione della sesta malattia e ad un periodo di inappetenza del bambino, che per vari motivi mangiava molto di meno. Insomma, per la legge la dieta vegana “non rappresenta una scelta biasimevole”. Il caso potrebbe aprire nuove discussioni sull’opportunità di sottoporre i bimbi, anche molto piccoli, ad alimentazioni alternative alla classica dieta mediterranea, finora l’unico regime alimentare ad essere totalmente approvato dai medici.
