Coloro che hanno scelto di adottare un’alimentazione vegana sono in aumento ma visto che la dieta priva di alimenti di derivazione animale è diventata una vera e propria moda e non sempre una scelta pienamente consapevole è importante conoscere pro e contro della dieta vegana.

Pro e contro della dieta vegana

Il veganesimo è uno stile di vita che coinvolge molti aspetti della vita quotidiana, l’alimentazione ne è solo una parte: non consumare prodotti di derivazione animale, che si tratti di cibo, di capi di abbigliamento o di prodotti che prevedono lo sfruttamento degli esseri viventi è una scelta radicale che deve essere fatta con cognizione di causa e non per aderire ad una moda alimentare dominante.

Ogni dieta, d’altronde, può avere ricadute negative sulla salute se non viene seguita con scrupolo e attenzione al benessere dell’organismo per evitare di incorrere in pericolose carenze nutrizionali. La dieta vegana non fa eccezione, tanto più che rinuncia ad alimenti cardine dell’alimentazione tradizionale, dalla carne ai latticini, dal pesce alle uova.

La dieta vegana è un regime alimentare molto restrittivo che richiede particolare cura perché sia equilibrato e contenga tutti i nutrienti indispensabili al corpo per il buon funzionamento dell’organismo. I vantaggi che se ne ricavano, purché la dieta sia equilibrata e varia, sono moltissimi.

Pro della dieta vegana

Tra i pro della dieta vegena c’è un organismo più pulito perché si tratta di un regime alimentare che favorisce l’eliminazione delle tossine, abbassa il colesterolo e mantiene sotto controllo la glicemia. Di conseguenza il fisico è più attivo e dinamico perché si elimina anche il senso di spossatezza che spesso si associa ad un’alimentazione appesantita da proteine animali. Diversi studi hanno inoltre associato la dieta vegana ad una maggiore longevità.

Contro della dieta vegana

Gli squilibri nutrizionali derivati dall’eliminazione di alcuni alimenti, se non debitamente sostituiti con i corrispettivi nutrienti vegetali, possono essere pericolosi per la salute. Prima tra tutte si segnala la carenza di vitamina B12 che deriva soprattutto dalla carne. Un vegetariano può trarre questo elemento da latte e uova ma un vegano deve trovare fonti alternative di vitamina B12, eventualmente ricorrendo a integratori.
