Per difendersi dalla calura estiva cosa c’è di meglio di una bella limonata fresca? Sicuramente tutti conoscono la natura dissetante del limone, ma forse non tutti conoscono le proprietà benefiche e antibiotiche di questo frutto. Il limone fa parte della famiglia delle Rutacee ed è un albero originario dell’Asia che si è diffuso in tutto il bacino del Mediterraneo.
La scorza di limone contiene la pectina, di cui sono note le proprietà gelificanti, e che recenti studi hanno dimostrato essere valida nel ridurre il livello di colesterolo nel sangue. La polpa è un’autentica miniera di vitamina C, mentre il succo stimola le funzioni epatiche, e, al contrario di quello che si è abituati a credere, non ha effetti acidificanti sull’organismo: basti pensare che durante la sua digestione si forma carbonato di potassio, una sostanza basica che neutralizza gli acidi.
Il potere astringente del limone è molto utile nel caso di diarrea e di emorragie ed è utile anche nella cura della pelle; grazie alla presenza di vitamina C, il succo di limone accelera i processi di guarigione e attiva il sistema immunitario, ed in più, protegge le cellule dall’attacco dei radicali liberi.
Una piccola quantità di succo di limone diluita in acqua è un ottimo collutorio per curare mal di gola, tonsillite e raucedine; potete aggiungerlo alle tisane indicate contro le malattie da raffreddamento.
L’olio essenziale di limone migliora e purifica l’aria all’interno delle stanze: è sufficiente metterne qualche goccia nell’umidificatore o nel diffusore. L’assunzione di olio essenziale di limone per via orale ha effetti calmanti sul sistema nervoso e sulla psiche: in questi casi provate a prenderne 5 gocce su una zolletta di zucchero o su un pezzettino di pane per 3 volte al giorno.
Olio essenziale e succo di limone sono utilizzati anche per combattere la cellulite, che non è un problema di sola natura estetica: essa non è dovuta ad accumuli di grasso, ma ad un processo infiammatorio cronico del tessuto adiposo sottocutaneo. Questo comporta una degenerazione della circolazione sanguigna a livello dei capillari, che impedisce il corretto smaltimento dei residui del metabolismo cellulare e causa la tipica pelle a buccia d’arancia.
È quindi necessario ripristinare la corretta microcircolazione, cosa che potete fare massaggiandovi i glutei e le cosce 2-3 volte al giorno per 4 settimane, con una miscela di oli essenziali tra cui quello di limone.

100 ml di olio di jojoba e nocciole
7 gocce di olio essenziale di eucalipto
7 gocce di olio essenziale di limone
7 gocce di olio essenziale cedro
7 gocce di olio essenziale salvia
7 gocce di olio essenziale di cipresso
