L’olio essenziale si ottiene dalle parti aeree fiorite fresche della pianta della menta piperita tramite distillazione in corrente di vapore e vanta numerose proprietà: è antistress, favorisce la digestione è un potente antibatterico e antiemetico (efficace contro mal d’auto/mal d’aria/mal di mare) ed ottimo per la cura della pelle.

L’olio essenziale d menta piperita ha proprietà cosmetiche importanti. Si può usare come:

Maschera purificante per pelli grasse: si prepara mescolando in una ciotola 5 cucchiaini di argilla bianca, 5 gocce di olio essenziale di tea tree, 5 gocce di olio essenziale di salvia, 5 gocce di olio essenziale di menta e 5 gocce di olio essenziale di lavanda. Per la maschera si usa 1 cucchiaino del composto appena preparato e si unisce a ½ cucchiaino di miele e ½ cucchiaino di yogurt naturale. Si mescola bene e si applica sulla pelle. Si lascia gire per 10 minuti circa. L’importante è che non secchi, altrimenti oltre alle impurità la maschera avrà portato via anche l’acqua dai tessuti.

Bagno tonificante e anti-stanchezza: la menta piperita vanta proprietà rinfrescanti e stimolanti. Va aggiunto all’acqua e al normale detergente nella misura di 5-10 gocce.

Olio da massaggio: in 3 cucchiai dio olio di mandorle dolci si aggiungono 6 gocce di olio essenziale di menta piperita. Si applica con movimenti circolari dal basso verso l’alto sulla pelle umida.

Contro le gambe gonfie: l’olio essenziale di menta piperita è ottimo in caso di gonfiori agli arti. Si sciolgono nell’acqua del bagno 50 g di sale e si aggiungono 12 gocce di olio essenziale di menta piperita.

Post epilazione: l’olio essenziale di menta piperita è un toccasana anche contro i rossori e le irritazioni. Si aggiunge 1 cucchiaino di olio essenziale a 50 gocce di olio d’oliva. Si massaggia sempre in direzione della circolazione sanguigna, dal basso verso l’alto.

L’olio essenziale di menta piperita non va mai usato puro, ma sempre diluito in un olio vettore. Inoltre, non va usato prima di esporsi al sole.
