La notizia ha tutta l’aria di essere una bufala, ma sembra propria che gli amanti del Mc Donalds e dei fast food siano destinati ad avere una vita non facile. Il Parlamento ungherese, infatti, ha approvato un disegno di legge che contiene una tassa sui prodotti ad alto contenuto di grassi e zucchero per porre un freno al problema dell’obesità e per destinare le risorse aggiuntive per il sistema sanitario.
La “Chips tax”, andrà in vigore a partire dal 1° settembre e riguarderà non solo gli alimenti come patatine fritte, cioccolata, hamburger, ma anche le bevande che contengono zuccheri e caffeina in eccesso. Le aliquote variano dal 5% al 20%. Per fare degli esempi, la tassa, prevede un aggravio di 100 fiorini per ogni chilogrammo di dolciumi preconfezionati, 200 fiorini per ogni chilogrammo di aromi alimentari e snack salati, 5 fiorini per litro su bibite zuccherate con contenuto di frutta inferiore al 25%. In caso di prodotti non originari dell’Ungheria, inoltre, la tassa verrà applicata a carico dell’importatore.
Naturalmente, ci sono alcune categorie che non saranno tenute a pagare la “chips tax”, così come saranno esenti dalla tassa alcune categorie di prodotti come le zuppe, le salse e i cibi per bambini. Il motivo che ha spinto il Parlamento ad un provvedimento così drastico, è la necessità di porre un freno all’obesità, una patologia sempre più diffusa soprattutto tra i giovani ungheresi, e contro cui sembra le misure tradizionali non abbiano alcuna efficacia.
E’ ormai notorio, infatti, come l’obesità sia l’anticamera di gravi malattie, tra cui quelle cardiovascolari, e l’applicazione della tassa, dovrebbe avere come effetto quello di far lievitare i prezzi dei cibi grassi, e di conseguenza fungere da deterrente all’acquisto. Funzionerà?…
