MyPlate, la nuova dieta alimentare made in USA

Si chiama MyPlate, ed è la nuova dieta ideale in arrivo dagli USA, pronta a sostituire la vecchia piramide alimentare. Il nuovo schema, infatti, raffigura in un piatto le proporzioni di sostanze nutritive da assumere durante il pasto.

Myplate, è diviso in 4 aree cromatiche diverse e almeno 3/4 del pasto è costituito da vegetali. Spadroneggiano, infatti, la verdura, la frutta, mentre l’apporto di cereali, elementi base della piramide alimentare, risulta decisamente ridimensionato. Per quanto riguarda la pasta, il pane e i biscotti, si dovrebbero preferire quelli di origine integrale. Alle proteine, invece, è riservato uno spicchio esiguo, perché secondo gli esperti americani, carne, uova e legumi non devono superare il 25% del nostro fabbisogno quotidiano. Il latte e i suoi derivati sono stati collocati in una ciotolina a parte, vicino al piatto principale, e pur considerati importanti, vanno consumati con moderazione.

Tuttavia, MyPlate presenta qualche criticità. Ad esempio, non viene fatto alcun accenno agli zuccheri e ai condimenti da assumere, non tenendo conto del fatto che l’olio d’oliva, previsto nella vecchia piramide alimentare ispirata alla dieta mediterranea, è importante per il benessere del nostro organismo. Non dimentichiamo, infatti, che l’olio di oliva è ricco di acidi grassi monoinsaturi, preziosi alleati contro il colesterolo cattivo. Lo stesso vale per il vino, 1 bicchiere per ogni pasto è consigliato anche dai medici, è stato dimostrato che l’etanolo ha un effetto antiossidante e antitumorale. Anche per quanto riguarda i diversi tipi di proteine, non c’è alcuna distinzione, eppure è notorio che le carni bianche (tacchino, coniglio, pollo, ecc.) il pesce e i legumi sono da preferire rispetto alle carni più grasse o quelle rosse.

Inoltre, una ricerca condotta dall’Università di Firenze e pubblicato sull’ultima edizione del British Medical Journal, ha confermato la valenza della dieta mediterranea, che aiuta a tenere lontani il cancro, le malattie cardiovascolari, e i morbi di Parkinson e di Alzheimer.
