La dieta mima-digiuno, in cosa consiste

Benché a giudicare dal nome si possa pensare ad regime alimentare molto restrittivo, la dieta mima-digiuno non è un vero e proprio digiuno. Si tratta invece di un regime alimentare che simula un semi-digiuno per 5 giorni su un arco di tempo di circa 3-6 mesi attraverso la riduzione dell’apporto calorico fino al 50% rispetto al normale.

La dieta, ideata da Valter Longo, si basa su un principio semplice: ridurre l’invecchiamento cellulare, la produzione di insulina e dell’ormone della crescita e intervenire sulla salute globale dell’organismo. Non per caso il Time ha definito il medico che ha messo a punto la dieta il guru della longevità.

Gli effetti dimagranti dunque sono secondari, anche se non trascurabili, visto che lo scopo principale di questa dieta è quello di allungare la vita proteggendo il corpo dal rischio di malattie croniche come il diabete, patologie cardiocircolatorie e tumori.

La base della dieta è quella mediterranea/vegetariana che punta sulle proteine del pesce anziché della carne favorendo anche l’apporto proteico vegetale, grazie ai legumi. Inoltre si eliminano del tutto grassi saturi animali e zuccheri in favore di grassi salutari provenienti da olio extravergine di oliva e frutta secca.

Tra i cibi da evitare ci sono dolci, carne e altri prodotti di origine animale ma anche la frutta, mentre vanno preferite le verdure. Non è necessario rinunciare completamente a molti piatti, se a pranzo siete abituati a consumare la pasta potete sostituirla per esempio con cereali integrali accompagnati legumi cotti.

Le proteine animali si riducono drasticamente, favorendo quelle che provengono dai legumi e dal pesce. Il motivo è che, secondo gli studi del dottor Longo che ha messo a punto la dieta, contribuiscono ad accelerare il processo di invecchiamento cellulare.

La dieta mima-digiuno ha un indubbio vantaggio, si segue per un periodo di tempo breve. Il corpo non viene privato di alcun nutriente necessario e la riduzione calorica progressiva si attua per pochi giorni, per un massimo di 5 ogni 3-6 mesi.

Non dovrebbero seguire questa dieta donne in gravidanza, diabetici e ipertesi, persone in sovrappeso, cardiopatici o con il colesterolo alto. In ogni caso è sempree bene chiedere un consiglio al medico prima di avvicinarsi a qualunque dieta.
