Cioccolato per tenere a bada il colesterolo

Avete ancora dei dubbi sulle proprietà benefiche del cioccolato? Toglieteveli, perché ormai i medici sono tutti concordi: se consumato in quantità limitate e scelto di ottima qualità, il cioccolato fa bene al cuore e a tutto l’organismo; se, però, non risponde a queste caratteristiche, può favorire l’aumento di peso e l’insorgenza di grassi nella circolazione sanguigna.

Vediamo insieme quali sono le proprietà benefiche del cioccolato. Innanzi tutto riduce il colesterolo, in quanto contiene una sostanza in grado di contrastare l’attività del colesterolo cattivo, aumentando, invece, la produzione di quello buono. Nel cacao è presente anche l’acido stearico, ovvero il burro di cacao, che è capace di controllare il livello dei trigliceridi nel sangue.

Secondo uno studio tedesco, il cioccolato fondente avrebbe anche la capacità di ridurre la pressione nel sangue, grazie ai polifenoli che contiene, ovvero degli antiossidanti benefici per l’organismo. Il cioccolato contiene la teobromina, un composto in grado di stimolare la muscolatura del cuore, ottenendo, così, un miglioramento della capacità di concentrazione; la teobromina, inoltre, contribuisce anche ad attivare la funzionalità dei reni e quindi a stimolare la diuresi e a prevenire gonfiori e ritenzione idrica. Il cioccolato contiene la fenil-etil-ammina, che è capace di aumentare la produzione di endorfine, delle sostanze che favoriscono il benessere e il relax; la presenza di queste sostanze fa sì che, consumato in modo misurato, il cioccolato ha un effetto tonificante e antidepressivo.

Per sfruttare al meglio le proprietà del cioccolato è meglio consumare quello nero, ovvero il tipo fondente; secondo una ricerca, il cioccolato fondente sarebbe in grado di aumentare del 20% le concentrazioni di antiossidanti nel sangue, mentre quello al latte non ha alcun effetto; infatti secondo i ricercatori il latte farebbe diminuire gli effetti protettori sul cuore. 

Attenzione, però, a non esagerare con le quantità: il cioccolato è molto calorico, basti pensare che il tipo fondente apporta circa 520 calorie per 100 grammi; quindi, è importante limitasi a 10 grammi al giorno, cioè l’equivalente di un cioccolatino o a due o tre quadretti.
