Secondo uno studio della Roehmpton University (GB) chi si sveglia presto la mattina, non soltanto è più felice, ma persino più magro! Chi se la passa peggio, invece, non sono tanto i dormiglioni, quanto quelli che amano fare le ore piccole. Nulla di nuovo, in fondo, numerosi studi, infatti, hanno dimostrato come la mancanza di sonno si rifletta negativamente sulla nostra salute, influenzando il nostro umore e anche il nostro peso corporeo.

I ricercatori inglesi hanno coinvolto 1.100 persone tra uomini e donne, chiamati a rispondere su stato di salute e abitudini notturne. Dai risultati dell’indagine è emerso come il 13% fosse mattiniero, per questa categoria (piuttosto esigua) durante la settimana si sveglia prima delle 7 e anche nel weekend non amano poltrire nel letto. Il 6%, invece, si sveglia non prima delle 9 durante la settimana e nei weekend si concedono persino un pisolino extra. Il restante 81% si trova tra questi due estremi, e ahimé, ci sono anch’io!

Il team degli studiosi inglesi ha illustrato i dati dell’analisi (pubblicata sul ‘Daily Mail) alla conferenza della British Psychological Society. Come ha spiegato Jorge Huber, l’autore dello studio:

Le persone che riescono ad alzarsi prima la mattina mostrano meno segni di depressione e ansia, inoltre sono più inclini a fare colazione e sono in media più magre. Gli effetti sono piccoli, ma statisticamente significativi.

Del resto, come detto anche all’inizio, lo studio inglese va a confermare le ricerche già condotte a tal proposito. Quando dormiamo poco o comunque non a sufficienza abbiamo la tendenza ad ingrassare perché pare che il nostro cervello non sia più in grado di scegliere i cibi con criterio, spingendoci ad abbuffarci e a preferire alimenti grassi, il cosiddetto cibo spazzatura, che attiverebbe le zone cerebrali della gratificazione. Dunque, i dati confermano sempre più che esistono basi neurologiche della modulazione dell’appetito da parte del sonno.
