A dieta già a 13 anni: la maggior parte si affida al fai-da-te

Qual è l’età giusta per mettersi a dieta? Sicuramente non prima di aver completato lo sviluppo. L’unica opzione valida è che si sia seguiti da un medico e ci siano delle motivazioni di salute. Nonostante questa raccomandazioni è emerso che a 13 anni il 22% dei maschi e il 28% delle femmine ha fatto almeno una dieta. Ma il problema è che il 40% ha scelto da solo cosa e quanto mangiare, il 30% si è affidato a fonti non specialistiche e solo il 30% è andato dal medico.

Questo è quanto racconta Barbara Paolini, medico dietologo del Policlinico Le Scotte di Siena e vicepresidente Adi (Associazione italiana di dietetica e nutrizione clinica) durante un convegno di Expo 2015 dedicato ai pericoli delle diete lampo.

Un po’ c’è il fatto che si mangia male e ci si muove poco, un po’ che i modelli diffusi da moda, cinema e tv hanno una perfezione irreale. Fatto sta che si punta a caratteristiche corporee ‘estreme’ e di nicchia, e si crede a sistemi che promettono di far perdere peso solo su alcune parti del corpo, in pochissimi giorni, senza fatica. Un’utopia. Con rischi sono notevolissimi.

Quali sono questi rischi? Carenze vitaminiche e di minerali, privando l’ organismo di elementi essenziali, specie nella fase della crescita. Ne consegue un danno al metabolismo, con una riduzione del dispendio energetico e il temuto effetto yo-yo, fino a problemi nello sviluppo osseo. E non è tutto, questo genere di diete porta sulla strada, cattiva strada, dei disturbi alimentari, come l’anoressia.
