Dimagrire con i programmi di auto-aiuto on line

Il web offre moltissime risorse per aiutarci in diversi campi della vita: su internet si può trovare praticamente di tutto e imparare a fare tante cose, ma non solo: si può curare la dipendenza dalle sigarette, prevenire la depressione post partum e, addirittura riuscire a dimagrire e a gestire il diabete. Come? Grazie a dei programmi di auto-aiuto on line; gli ultimi, in ordine di tempo, sono stati messi a punto da un team di psicologi norvegesi grazie ai finanziamenti del Programme for User-driven Research-based Information del Consiglio delle Ricerche della Norvegia.

Gli psicologi che hanno preso parte al progetto hanno ideato una serie di programmi partendo da una seduta normale con un terapista e, dopo accurati studi, hanno selezionato gli elementi che possono essere utilizzabili anche in forma digitale. Nel programma on line, infatti, i pazienti non incontrano mai un medico in carne ed ossa, bensì seguono le sedute di terapia sul pc, sullo smartphone o sul tablet.

Esistono molti tipi di programmi di auto-aiuto on line, ma quelli più seguiti sono quelli che aiutano a smettere di fumare o di bere oppure a dimagrire; poi ci sono quelli che insegnano come gestire lo stress, a prevenire la depressione post-partum e a gestire il diabete.

Se seguire un programma di terapia on line e, soprattutto senza terapista, vi sembra un po’ strano, gli ideatori del progetto assicurano che questo sistema ha molti aderenti e per diversi motivi; il dottor, Pal Kraft, direttore responsabile del progetto, spiega infatti:

Tutto è perciò estremamente accessibile e facile per il paziente, che per di più ha il vantaggio di un totale anonimato: in alcune situazioni le persone non vogliono condividere i loro problemi perché se ne vergognano. Non a caso uno dei programmi più scelti dai nostri pazienti è quello che aiuta le donne a smettere di bere.

Naturalmente, altrettante persone nutrono una buona dose di scetticismo sulla reale efficacia di questi programmi, soprattutto per l’assenza di un medico in carne ed ossa e sul fatto che la terapia sia abbastanza generica e poco personalizzata e, quindi, il dibattito sull’utilità dei sedute di auto-aiuto virtuali resta aperto.
