Qualche tempo fa vi abbiamo parlato delle proprietà generiche del tè rosso Rooibos, o più precisamente la bevanda sudafricana ‘parente’ del tè, oggi però ci concentriamo su un nuovo aspetto che potrebbe togliere lo scettro di elisir di lunga vita al tè verde. Il Rooibos funziona per rallentare l’invecchiamento grazie all’alto contenuto di antiossidanti. A sostenerlo una ricerca dell’Istituto nazionale di ricerca per gli alimenti e la nutrizione (Inran) che per la prima volta ha valutato direttamente sull’uomo le proprietà degli infusi Rooibos fermentati e non fermentati.
In Italia questa bevanda non è ancora molto conosciuto, ma ci sono ottime possibilità che diventi di moda, appena le virtù antiage saranno scoperte dai più. Si ottiene dall’arbusto sudafricano Aspalathus linearis o Rooibos (traduzione afrikaans dall’inglese red bush, cespuglio rosso). Pur avendo un gusto molto simile al tè, non contiene caffeina, oltre a essere ricca di antiossidanti. I benefici sono già noti da tempo alla ricerca, ma erano stati dimostrati finora solo con studi in vitro.
Ora, allo studio italiano hanno partecipato 15 volontari sani, normopeso, non fumatori, che hanno seguito per i due giorni precedenti l’inizio dell’esperimento una dieta a basso contenuto di antiossidanti e senza ricorrere ad alcun integratore. Il giorno del test, a digiuno, sono stati divisi in 3 gruppi: il gruppo A ha bevuto 500 ml di acqua, il gruppo B 500 ml di tè rooibos fermentato, il gruppo C 500 ml di tè rooibos non fermentato. Prelievi di sangue sono stati effettuati al momento dell’ingestione e poi dopo mezz’ora, un’ora, due e 5 ore. E ogni due settimane l’esperimento è stato ripetuto, facendo ruotare la bevanda prevista per ogni gruppo, fino a quando tutti non hanno ingerito le tre tipologie di liquidi.
I risultati hanno evidenziato, ad un’ora dall’ingestione di tè Rooibos, un significativo aumento delle difese antiossidanti plasmatiche. Berne ogni giorno può quindi contribuire ad aumentare le difese antiossidanti, rafforzando la protezione dai radicali liberi in eccesso.
