Dieta e menopausa, il parere dell'esperto (terza parte)Come promesso pubblichiamo oggi la terza ed ultima parte dell’intervista al Prof. Martorana, docente di Ginecologia ed Endocrinologia presso l’Università degli Studi di Palermo, che ha risposto per noi ad alcune delle domande più frequenti sulla menopausa.

Quanto un allenamento fisico regolare aiuta a mantenersi in forma in menopausa?

Non c’è dubbio che un corretto e regolare allenamento fisico, come detto in precedenza, svolto in palestra o grazie ad una passeggiata di 30-45 minuti fatta tutti i giorni ad andatura medio-veloce o ancora una corsa di 30 minuti a giorni alterni dia la possibilità di allontanare sempre più lo spettro di quell’erosione e di quella riduzione dei dischi intervertebrali che a lungo andare determinano la ‘gobba della vedova’. Questa viene così chiamata poichè, visto che l’età media della donna è superiore a quella dell’uomo, statisticamente le donne sopravvivono ai loro mariti; diventando vedove alle soglie della senilità ed avendo l’osteoporosi, come conseguenza insorge questa forma di cifoscoliosi tipica della terza età.

Maggiore autostima, nel senso che a prescindere da eventuali cambiamenti fisici ognuno resta ciò che è e non ciò che gli altri vedono, alimentare reti di relazioni sociali, coltivare i propri hobby, concedere più tempo a se stesse, non sentirsi continuamente “malate” o “diverse”, secondo la sua esperienza, può essere il modo giusto per vivere la menopausa come una nuova primavera, un nuovo inizio?

Non c’è dubbio che l’autostima e quindi la possibilità di superare in maniera egregia questo periodo della vita nasce da tutta una serie di condizionamenti ambientali, dalla comprensione soprattutto da parte dell’ambiente familiare al proprio livello culturale che non è uguale in tutte le persone. Anche se devo dire che durante la mia lunga carriera ho potuto constatare che donne di strati socio-culturali meno elevati spesso hanno una menopausa più silenziosa. E a questo proposito mi piace ricordare che le indiane d’America della tribù dei PIMA non hanno menopausa. Come mai? Non hanno menopausa perché sono fuori dalle influenze socio-culturali della società occidentale consumistica ed edonista tant’è vero che quasi tutte al limite dell’obesità, producono tanti estrogeni nel loro tessuto adiposo da non avere i sintomi sopracitati. D’altra parte, ripeto, l’autostima, il livello socio culturale, l’impegno in attività di tipo sociale, ecc. sono attività che dovrebbero essere sempre svolte, qualora possibile. Infatti certamente migliorano l’atteggiamento nei confronti di questo periodo della vita che io chiamerei più una splendente e lunga fine estate.
