Durante il periodo festivo è normale straviziare un po’ a tavola, salvo poi ritrovarsi appesantiti e un po’ fuori forma al termine delle feste; per contrastare gli eccessi di Natale e Capodanno, un aiuto arriva dagli asparagi che, essendo ricchi di aminoacidi e di sali minerali, sono in grado di proteggere le cellule del fegato decisamente provate da questi eccessi, sia alimentari che alcolici.
Se a Natale gli stravizi sono soprattutto alimentari, per Capodanno, invece, si tende ad esagerare con l’alcool, vino e spumante in primis, che possono causare, oltre all’aumento di peso, anche un senso di malessere generale dovuto all’accumulo di tossine nel fegato.
Secondo uno studio condotto in Corea e pubblicato sul Journal of Food Science, gli asparagi sarebbero utili per contrastare questo accumulo di tossine; i medici hanno analizzando i germogli degli asparagi, per poi estrarre dei componenti che hanno testato su cellule epatiche umane e animali. I risultati di questo test hanno evidenziato che queste verdure sono utili per combattere lo stress ossidativo del fegato.
Che gli asparagi siano utili anche per la salute, oltre che ottimi da mangiare, non è una novità: essi, infatti, vengono da sempre utilizzati in erboristeria per le loro proprietà antinfiammatorie, antifungine e diuretiche, ma non solo: si ritiene, anche, che abbiamo capacità antitumorali.
I medici che hanno condotto lo studio spiegano:
Il contenuto di aminoacidi e minerali è risultato essere molto più alto nelle foglie rispetto ai germogli, e la tossicità cellulare era significativamente alleviata in risposta al trattamento con gli estratti di foglie di asparagi e germogli. Questi risultati forniscono la prova di come le funzioni biologiche degli asparagi possano contribuire ad alleviare i postumi da sbornia di alcol e proteggere le cellule del fegato.
Considerando il fatto che gli asparagi sono anche molto gustosi, è proprio il caso di dire che mangiarli è un sistema per proteggere il fegato che non peserà a nessuno.
