Il tè nero contrasta il diabete. Secondo un recente studio, realizzato dal Data Mining International di Ginevra, nei paesi in cui si consuma questo prodotto è più basso il tasso relativo alla diffusione del diabete di tipo 2 nella popolazione. La ricerca ha preso in considerazione 50 Stati e ha stilato un modello matematico per stimare quanto il tè nero avesse un impatto sulle malattie e sulla salute in generale.
Questo tema ricorre alla vigilia della “Giornata Mondiale del Diabete“, che si terrà il 14 novembre 2012 e accompagna l’Italian Barometer Report 2012, realizzato dall’Italian Barometer Diabetes Observatory dell’Università di Tor Vergata di Roma, durante cui si sono definiti i canoni del diabetico tipo. In linea di massima, si tratta di una persona sedentaria, in sovrappeso e con licenza media.
Come abbiamo già detto in diverse occasioni, il diabete sta dilagando e solo in Italia ci sono (con diagnosi certa) 2 milioni e 970mila, il 4,9% della popolazione. Questa percentuale è destinata a lievitare nel corso del tempo e probabilmente è già ora molto più alta di quanto non sia stato stabilito, perché sono numerose le persone malate che non sanno di esserlo. Inoltre, gli obesi (che rappresentano il 33 percento della popolazione) rischiano 60 volte in più la probabilità di sviluppare la patologia.
La ricerca ha stabilito che nei Paesi in cui c’è un alto consumo di tè nero, il rischio di diabete di tipo 2 è decisamente inferiore. In testa alla classifica delle nazioni virtuose, troviamo l’Irlanda, il Regno Unito e la Turchia, mentre il fanalino di coda è la Corea del Sud, il Brasile e la Cina. Perché il tè nero è così prezioso? Secondo gli esperti, favorisce il controllo degli zuccheri grazie al metodo di fermentazione, in grado di accrescere il tenore di flavonoidi. Mettiamola così, come si sempre si parla di prodotti curativi, ma di sostanze che se inserite in un regime alimentare equilibrato possono aiutare.
