La Rodiola (Rhodiola Rosea), anche nota come la radice siberiana, cresce spontaneamente nelle zone montuose nord-europee (Scandinavia, Lapponia), nord-asiatiche (Siberia) e nord-americane (Alaska). L’azione dimagrante della Rodiola è da attribuire alla capacità di accelerare la liberazione dei grassi dai tessuti di deposito (lipolisi) per trasformarli in grasso bruno, che viene bruciato per produrre energia. Uno studio eseguito su 130 pazienti in sovrappeso ha dimostrato una perdita media di 9 chili in 3 mesi. Nei pazienti sedentari la lipolisi risultava aumentata di circa il 17%, mentre nei pazienti che facevano sport del 44%.
La Rodiola, inoltre, è in grado di aumentare del 30% circa i livelli di serotonina nel sistema nervoso centrale, sostanza in grado di togliere il desiderio ossessivo di carboidrati e svolgere azione sedativa-antiansia, riducendo notevolmente la fame nervosa. Senza contare che i glicosidi contenuti nella radice incrementano i livelli di dopamina, sostanza capce di trasmettere al sistema nervoso centrale un segnale di sazietà.
Uso della Rhodiola Rosea e effetti indesiderati
La dose giornaliera media suggerita varia da 500 a 700 mg di droga o preparazioni equivalenti per un apporto pari a 3-5/5 mg di Salidroside. Non sono stati evidenziati effetti indesiderati della rhodiola alle dosi raccomandate. In casi molto sporadici, sono stati rilevati leggeri incrementi della pressione arteriosa. L’utilizzo di Rhodiola rosea è sconsigliato in individui che soffrono di crisi di ipertensione, stati febbrili, sovraeccitabilità.
