Innanzi tutto, un po’ di informazione; il kiwi è il frutto della pianta omonima, un arbusto originaro della Cina e del Giappone che è arrivato in Europa nel 1800; questo frutto deve il suo nome alla Nuova Zelanda, il paese nel quale venne coltivato in maggiore quantità: infatti, kiwi è il nome di un tipico uccello neozelandese.

Il kiwi è in grado apportare molte fibre all’organismo, sia solubili che insolubili, e per questo è indicato per chi soffre di stitichezza o ha problemi di emorroidi; questo frutto possiede diverse proprietà antiossidanti ed è utile nella lotta contro i radicali liberi, a meno di non esporre la polpa all’aria per troppo tempo.

Il kiwi contiene rame e ferro e quindi possiede proprietà antisettiche; l’alta concentrazione di minerali fa sì che sia un perfetto riequilibrante in caso di disidratazione; inoltre, contenendo molto potassio, è utile per combattere la depressione e la stanchezza in generale. Oltre al potassio, il kiwi contiene anche il magnesio, beneficio in caso di stress, sodio, fosforo e calcio.

Per essere considerato di buona qualità, il kiwi deve presentare la buccia integra, dalla forma regolare e non essere né troppo morbido né troppo maturo. Il kiwi è un frutto altamente consigliato nelle diete dimagranti, in quanto contiene pochissime calorie: soltanto 61 ogni 100 grammi.
