Nel corso dei decenni l’uomo del nuovo millennio, è stato definito in molti modi diversi: da Peter Pan a Palestrato; termini, così come altri utilizzati per fornire un quadro degli uomini “metropolitani”, ormai entrati nel linguaggio comune. Quanti di noi, infatti, non hanno descritto almeno una volta un uomo utilizzando questi e altri appellativi?
Oggi, sta emergendo nel linguaggio giornalistico un altro termine che descrive una nuova tendenza del “Maschio”: il Metrosexual. Chi è l’uomo Metrosexual? Questo termine è utilizzato per descrivere una condizione psicologica, la metrosessualità, che sarebbe fortemente legata agli aspetti dell’identità sessuale. La Metrosessualità (derivante dalle parole metro e eterosessuale) indica una particolare tendenza che farebbe si che uomini eterosessuali assumino comportamenti e stili di vita che, in un recente passato, erano prerogativa del mondo femminile.
Gli uomini descritti con questo termine presentano alcune caratteristiche, tra cui eccessiva cura del corpo (depilazione totale del corpo, utilizzo sfrenato di cosmetici, pelle sempre abbronzata, ecc.), passione per lo shopping e stile di vita alimentare salutista. Questo termine, utilizzato per la prima volta da Mark Simpson, è stato messo in stretta relazione ad alcune categorie “psicologiche” quali tratti narcisisti o tratti di tipo ossessivi.
Indipendentemente dalle cause sottostanti ad un tale comportamento è certo che, guardandosi intorno, le riviste e i programmi rivolti a questi nuovi uomini sono in crescita. C’è da chiedersi “Quale sarà l’uomo del futuro? Una volta l’uomo amato dalle donne era ben diverso, aspetto trasandato, barba incolta, ecc. Personaggi quali Bruce Willis o Russell Crowe erano tra gli uomini amati dalle donne di tutte le età.
Ma l’uomo metrosessuale piace alle donne? Se è vero come diceva, Sara Jessica Parker in “Sex and the City” che gli uomini veri si stanno estinguendo e i nuovi uomini fanno registrare un calo della libido femminile, come si evolveranno le coppie nel futuro? Vedremo sempre più coppie che condividono la stessa estetista o che fanno a gara per aggiudicarsi un posto in prima fila davanti allo specchio o si assisterà al ritorno del Gladiatore?
L’evoluzione della specie umana rimane ancora un mistero e ancora oggi ci si interroga sul suo destino. Vorrà dire che, in attesa di queste risposte, aspetteremo il nostro principe azzurro senza cavallo bianco ma con un petto scolpito che tiene alla sua destra un’adorabile chihuahua a guinzaglio!
