Si è appena conclusa l’edizione 2015 dell’Obesity Day, una giornata dedicata alla prevenzione e alla sensibilizzazione sui temi connessi a sovrappeso e obesità. Ricchissimo il contesto delle molte iniziative organizzate.
Spiccano soprattutto il coinvolgimento delle scuole in manifestazioni sportive con lo scopo di invitare i più giovani a scoprire i piaceri e i benefici dello sport, l’organizzazione di tavole rotonde su tematiche cruciali per la salute della popolazione, dall’obesità infantile all’importanza di un’alimentazione attenta, e una serie di check-up gratuiti offerti in molti centri in tutta Italia.
È emerso anche qualche dato positivo, insieme ad alcuni risultati più allarmanti. Per quanto riguarda il confronto con l’Europa, gli italiani sono i cittadini più magri del continente. Lo annuncia la Coldiretti a Expo 2015 che ha partecipato all’Obesity Day sul tema della nutrizione.
Il nostro paese, a quanto pare, ha un’incidenza dell’obesità inferiore a quella di molti altri paesi europei per i cittadini sopra i 15 anni: in Italia è obeso circa il 10% della popolazione, in Svezia il 12%, nel Regno Unito il 25%.
Purtroppo a controbilanciare questo dato tutto sommato positivo interviene una notizia negativa: siamo il primo paese europeo per obesità infantile, un problema serio che va affrontato con strumenti adeguati per educare i bambini e le famiglie al valore di un’alimentazione bilanciata e sana coniugata ad un po’ di attività fisica costante.
Secondo l’ADI, Associazione Italiana di Dietetica e Nutrizione Clinica, bastano 150 minuti di camminata a passo svelto a settimana per mantenersi in forma. Non per nulla il motto dell’Obesity Day 2015 è stato proprio “Camminiamo insieme.”
